lemons-1Does the Lemon Maple Syrup Cleanse really work?

The Lemon Maple Syrup Cleanse also known as the “Master Cleanse” was created in 1941 by Stanley Burroughs. Burroughs claimed this cleanse is a “cure all for every disease” from weight loss to ulcers, by simply removing harmful toxins from the body.

Lemon Maple Syrup Cleanse Directions

The cleanse calls for you to drink a lemonade solution made from fresh lemons, real maple syrup, cayenne pepper, water, and nothing else for a recommended 10 days. After not eating anything solid for so long users must be very careful about reintroducing food. It’s recommended after the cleanse to start out with juice for a few days and then move to soups, veggies, and fruits slowly before adding anything else, otherwise you are going to have some seriously painful digestion problems.

Lemon Maple Syrup Cleanse Concerns

This cleanse was created in 1941, by a man that practiced medicine with out a license and also claimed he had devices to cure cancer. This cleanse is very outdated, and has been proven by research studies today to have no credibility whatsoever.

This cleanse has become very well known and I’m a little ashamed to admit I have done this cleanse myself. I only made it three days and let me just tell you that I didn’t lose one pound and I have never felt so sick in my entire life. This cleanse is very harsh on your body.

Lemon Maple Syrup Cleanse Warnings and Side Effects

This cleanse because of the lack of solid foods will most likely cause severe constipation, and shouldn’t be used if your suffer from irritable bowel syndrome or other GI disorders. Other common side effects of this cleanse are extreme fatigue, body aches, sensitivity to teeth and gums, mouth sores, headaches, irritability, nausea, and blood pressure shifts. This Maple Syrup Cleanse is not recommended by most Dr.’s today and is considered potentially dangerous and unnecessary.

Lemon Maple Syrup Cleanse Conclusion

I do not recommend this cleanse to anyone. The Lemon Maple Syrup Cleanse will not result in long term permanent weight loss and shouldn’t be considered a safe or effective approach to cleansing or losing weight.

l just want to say one thing for everyone concerning this diet. In essence it is a starvation diet you are really drinking nothing but water with a little bit of flavoring. Trust me l know the effects of not having any nourishment in your system. You can survive not eating so long as you are taking in liquids. Take the liquid away and you starve to death. Trust me l know, l watched my father die at the hands of the british medical system. No feeding tube no nothing and he died exactly ten days after his heart attack.

In reply to Beth. I’m sorry about what happened to your father, but I do want to make clear that this is definitely not a starvation diet. The intake of calories is recommended to be between 600 – 1200 calories per day. 1200 calories is an adequate amount for nearly anyone, especially for a 10 day time period. Anytime you get hungry you simply drink another lemonade. I usually don’t even make it to the 1200 calorie mark because I’m simply not hungry enough.

Well stated Cecelia. My wife and I tried the Master cleanse unsuccessfully exactly one year ago. I don’t blame anything other than a lack of ability or motivation. It all makes perfect sense to me. Although I am only a CatScan tech, I have learned quite a bit about the human body, and more importantly, I do experience most of the things stated. I would be curious to any tips you have to make it through the 10 days which seem like an eternity. Thank you. Kevin

i truly disagree, i have done the lemon maple caynene diet for 3 weeks, after the first 3 to 4 days i experience fatigue, hunger and irritability, which was a result of the toxins stirring up in my body. however, day 5 i was relieved of the syptoms and continued for the next 2 and half weeks of the diet. I had so much energy and i lost 25 pounds. during those 2 weeks i was at optimum capacity. my mood had never been better, i was not hungry and my body took on its natural shape. the only complaint was that i didnt not like the dieter tea.

I’ve done the MC before and lasted 4 days. I am bi-polar and have a serious blood pressure problem (both parents died young from strokes) so I take a fair amount of meds. My Dr. said I was okay to do the MC but DO NOT STOP my meds. I hated the salt water in the morning but did it anyway. I never noticed any type of change in toxins coming out of my body. However, I felt great and did quit smoking. My daughter has been doing this for 6 days now but eats a salad every night. She has no weight to lose but feels the benefit of toxic removal. She is a Nurse and talked to many Drs about the MC all of which said it was fine to do. My question is; should I eat a salad at night, can I exercise while on this, and do I have to drink the salt solution? I need to lose 30 lbs. but if I eat healthier than before the MC will any weight lost stay lost? I’ve never made any comments on the internet before so I don’t know how this works but I hope I get a reply especially about the salt water.
Thanks, Brett

I’m on day 4 and feel great! Actually the first day I ate a hamburger (bad, bad, very bad). But the next morning I got back on track. I am really surprized by the energy I feel considering I am not eating food! I am not ablt to due the salt flush yet because of work, so I do the tea at night and in the morning. I was shocked to see what came out of my body on day 3. I certainly feel as though I will make it to day 10… maybe longer. I love it because of the health benefits and energy I have and will continue to have, but I’ve also dropped 13 pounds! That is an added extra.

im just starting the master diet plan and appreciate the info.what i find funny is.how this page starts out bashing the “all natural organic cleanse”then goes on to advertise sopplements not approved or thoroughly tested by the FDA.thier are nutritionist who make nothing for thier advise who back the master diet and then offer no advice for over the counter pills.i think ill take my chances with the wieght loss vs side affects.

JUST FINISH IT April 17, 2010 at 9:28 am

3 Days? Don’t Judge if you don’t complete the cleanse that’s like bragging on a race that you never finished!
I did the cleanse twice! After the 3rd day it gets easier by day five your good lost apx 13-15 lbs in five days it’s better if you stay busy and workout! Avoid being around food :) Constipation? You must didn’t do the salt flush cause this wouldn’t be a factor! Any how i see you avocate a lot of drugs/so called fat burners on this site THAT ARE VERY VERY VERY DANGEROUS TO ONES HEALTH!!!!!! I QUESTION WHY?

I want to start this master cleanse diet, my friends swear by it. My only concern is I am on blood thinners for a blood clot disorder, will this affect my pt/inr? I would ask
my doctor, however, I’m sure she would discourage it. Is there anyone who can answer this for me?

I’m about to start the cleanse in a few days and would like to know if any of you that have done it in the past were able to exercise during the cleanse.

I love going to the gym and doing cardi and weights, I wonder if I’ll be able to continue my regular workouts while on the cleanse?

I am only on day 3, have had no ill effects at all, have been exercising with no lack of energy. I am 65 and work out 5 days a week and eat organic as much as possible. I do not expect any negative results but only positive and a few pounds off would be a nice side effect of a very healthy cleanse.Am hoping to make it to the 10 days!

I did this cleanse a year ago and felt awesome afterwards and am going to start the cleanse this coming Monday (after a little vacation). I felt aweful the first 3 days by day 4 I felt much better and was even able to cook for my family. By Day 5 I was doing Yoga and a little excercise (treadmill for 30 min. By the 10th day I was excercising regularly and feeling energetic and had a positive mental attitude. I suffer from excruciating migraines and had a few the first days but haven’t had a blinder until 2 months ago (time for the cleanse). I didn’t eat anything at all and no coffee the only that should go into your body during the cleanse is the Lemonade Maple Syrup mixture and water. Use the Sea Salt Flush because the lemonade loosens mucus and gook that is all allong the digestive track so the flush is important. The reason you feel like crap is your body is purging the toxins that are stored in your body. You have to go thru it to get cleaned out. I promise whenever you feel bad it will get better with the next morning flush. I lost 20 lbs. This works as long as you FOLLOW the Directions. You will feel great! I’m so looking forward to next Monday.

I’m on my second MC! I agree that if you didn’t get past day 3 you can’t judge it. My first one was for 10 days and I lost 10lbs. (I didn’t do this for the weight loss) and kept 6 off until today. I felt great results and am more concious of a healthier eating since then. I am doing a second one to help a friend do the same, having someone along is helpful. I recommend reading all the info before making the decision to cleanse and be sure you are not at risk.

I did the Master Cleanse 2 months ago now, and I lost 8lbs and kept them off. I’m eating normal again, but I am a lot more aware of what I eat, and I feel great. I plan on doing the Master Cleanse again if a few months.. I really recommend it to everyone. Yes you will lose weight, but most importantly, you will learn to eat food that are good for you. I dont eat a lot of sugar, but when I do (for my coffee) I now use Stevia sugar. The worse part for me was to replace my coffee with herbal tea during the cleanse, but now, I try to continue doing that and only have a coffee a few times a week. Good Luck!

I am a senior citizen anmd have done the master cleanse many tines. I did it once while I was still working and I would bring the drinks with me to work. I would go to lunch with my fellow workers and bring my drink with me while they would eat lunch. I always felt wonderful once I got by the first 3 days. My best cleanse went 14 days and I lost 16 pounds. I strongly recommend the Master Cleanser to anyone who wants better health and to trim down a few pounds.
