Does Metabolife Green Tea Work for the Price?

Metabolife Green Tea has all the makings of being…exactly like every other cheap green tea supplement.  The website explains happily that “in recent years, green tea has been the focus of much research, proving to be a potent antioxidant that may help to promote health and well being.”

Good for you, Metabolife Green Tea!  You’ve discovered what everyone else already knew!  Okay, so I don’t mean to downplay the benefit of green tea, but we need to see what else this product really offers.

Metabolife Green Tea Ingredients

First off, this pill contains 5 vitamins (calcium, copper, sodium, chromium, potassium) plus a 1032 mg proprietary blend.

The proprietary blend obviously includes green tea, but also boasts guarana and yerba mate for more caffeine and a garcinia cambogia extract for HCA (hydroxycitric acid).  Though HCA has no significant evidence for being effective at regulating blood lipids levels in humans, the caffeine you find in guarana, green tea, and yerba mate can accelerate your metabolism and allow you to burn more calories even when you’re not working out.   Without working out, they will not be powerful enough to make a difference.

Metabolife Green Tea Conclusion

Like many of the other Metabolife products, this one contains some good ingredients but doesn’t disclose how much of the good is in it exactly.  For $30, you should expect better. There is no reason to do this other than to disguise an imbalance favoring the cheapest ingredient to save them money.   This just shows that the company is a little more concerned with their profit margins than with your body fat percentage.  I’m no fan of Metabolife as a company, but even trying to be unbiased this product is sketchy.
